The tenugui (ten-uh-gwee) is a traditional Japanese craftsman item. It has been used for centuries in Japan as face or hand towel, or in ceremonies. I designed and illustrated this take on a tenugui for Mizuba Tea Co. It can be used a tea towel or table runner as well.  The illustrations are inspired by matcha green tea imagery, and I worked with a local screenprinter to bring them to life on this traditional Japanese Matsuri cotton fabric. The edges are intentionally left frayed to keep with authentic Japanese tenugui design.
